Chatham Chamber Announces $25,000 in Microgrants for Local Small Businesses
Duke Energy Foundation funding will support 10 grants of $2,500
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Date: October 15, 2026
Small businesses operating in Chatham County can apply for a $2,500 grant to support investments that help them adapt, grow, and better serve their customers.
The Chatham Chamber of Commerce is administering the Chatham Small Business Microgrant Program, made possible by funding from the Duke Energy Foundation through its Powering Local Economies grant initiative. The program will award 10 grants of $2,500, providing a total of $25,000 in direct support to local small businesses.
Chamber membership is not required to apply. Applications are due October 31, 2026.
As Chatham County grows, local businesses are navigating new opportunities and changing demands. Investments in equipment, storefronts, technology, marketing, and inventory can help businesses respond to those changes while continuing to provide the products, services, and relationships that shape the community’s character.
“Local businesses are central to what makes Chatham feel like home,” said Rebecca Dickenson, president and CEO of the Chatham Chamber of Commerce. “This program helps business owners make practical investments that move their businesses forward. When local businesses have the resources to succeed, they can better serve their customers and strengthen the community we share.”
Grant funds may be used for:
- Equipment purchases and upgrades
- Renovations or storefront improvements
- Technology and point-of-sale systems
- Marketing and rebranding
- Inventory acquisition
- Other capital needs that help businesses adapt and compete
The Chatham Chamber’s Grants & Awards Committee will review applications and select recipients based on demonstrated need and the potential for lasting business impact. Applicants should explain the investment they plan to make and how it will help their business respond to change, grow, or better serve customers.
