About
Communities In Schools Chatham County's (CISCC) mission is to surround students with a network of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. Our integrated school and community-based programs build resiliency in youth who display high risk factors for disparate health, social, and academic outcomes. Most face challenges generated by poverty and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) that can impact their learning and development. All CIS programs connect youth to sustained relationships with caring adults in school and community settings. CISCC keeps kids in school and on the path toward graduation by leveraging evidence-based strategies, relationships, and community based resources to drive positive outcomes.
Our vision of success is each youth’s achievement of the Five Basics: a one-on-one relationship with a caring adult, a safe place to learn and grow, a healthy start and future, a marketable skill to use upon graduation, and a chance to give back to peers and community.
Our programs target and provide support to referred students with the highest risks for underachievement by attending to the holistic needs of the individual youth which are required to overcome adversity through sustained resiliency. CISCC connects students with an array of versatile services through our 7 unique programs that enable staff to engage in a cross-pollination of wrap around supports, greatly enhancing the likelihood of successful outcomes for students and their families.
